  • Tower of the Winds: a marble clock tower, some believe to be built around 50 B.C.
  • Hill of Lycabetous - provides a panoramic view of Athens
  • Old Palace - built 1836 and served as palace of Otho, 1st King of Greece. Today it serves as the seat of the Hellenic Parliament
  • Greek and Roman Agora: often where assemblies gathered to hear speeches in the market place

Other Athens Sites

  • Theater of Dionysus - oldest known theatre in the world. 5th Century B.C
  •  Aeropagus - oldest court known, seat of the 1st aristocratic parliament. It is believed it is here where St Paul delivered his first sermon to the Arthenians in 51 A.D.
  • Monument of Philopappus - erected 1114 A.D for Gaius Julius Antiochus Philopappus, provides a beautiful view of the entire basin of Attica
  • Ancient Agora - Center for religious and civic matters, 159 B.C. Now used as museum
  • Hadrian's Arch - to identify the boundary between the ancient city of Theseus and the new city
  • The Kerameikos Cemetery - ancient burial ground of the city of Athens
  • Lalaounis jewelery Museum - has over 3000 jewelery designs which display Greek history
  • Iliou Melathron - Was once the mansion of famous archaeologist Heinrich Schiemann

Shopping in Athens

 Athens is a beautiful and exciting city to shop, it is full of surprises with good bargains to be found. the Plaka, the Roman Market and going to the Lalaounis jewelery Museum is a wonderful place to start.The Kolonaki district is very popular place for shopping with a wide range of shops.
